  • Update on uncle Daryl

Hey everyone I am updating with my new iPhone. It is so cool. My blackberry died and John wanted me to retire my huge planner that I carried withe everywhere.

Anyway, now that Ive gushed about my new toy an update on Daryl. We saw him a little while ago and he was looking good. We paid for Johns barber to go and cut his hair on Friday morning. That really boosted his spirits. He had an angiogram on Thursday night it went well. They said the leg looked good and didn't need anymore stints in it. However his heart needs several bypasses because several of his major arteries need bypasses. That would be open heart surgery! The doctor said to wait and see. Please pray he will behave and take better care of himself.

Alright well we are at barnes and nobles for date night so I will go. Thank you for the prayers

  • Another Surgery

Well Uncle Daryl had another surgery this morning.  I have yet to have a report on how he is doing.  I will be heading to the hospital in a little while.  We have been going almost everyday for about an hour.  Yesterday when we went we brought a book to read of a little cajun story that was quite cute about an alligator.  He really enjoys the visits and I am so glad that so many people are going to see him now.  His spirits were quite low last week as he was chomping at the bit to get out of the hospital.  He has never been laid up this long!  He has been in the hospital since Wednesday October 7th.  Friday October 8th was his first surgery.  They checked his circulation and cleaned out his several foot wounds.  He had them stitched closed initially but his first whirlpool ripped open the stiches so now his wounds are just being packed everyday.  This obviously is what has kept him in the hospital since he can't be at home with such dressings needed.  I know for a fact that he won't go back to the hospital everyday and have these things done so it is the upmost importance that he stays in the hospital until he is better!  The surgery today is for a stint in his leg with the wounds so that more blood flow can get through.

Another part of this prayer request is for his mom so that she will see the faithfulness of God in all of this.  She is going to a charismatic church and has a woman pastor who told her that the hospital was going to kill Daryl and that she needed to get him out of the hospital and not let them work on him anymore.  There was a Priestess conference in New Orleans this past weekend and she informed his mom that he needed to go there for healing.  I warned her about this and am trying to tell her the truth of Jesus Christ.  Pastor Davies sermon this Sunday was a topical sermon on the Apostles Creed and the first sentence of the Creed.  It was an incredible sermon that any of you can listen to on Sermon audio.com http://www.sermonaudio.com/search.asp?keyword=gracemet&keywordDesc=Grace+Presbyterian+Church&SourceOnly=true&currSection=sermonssource

This is the link to the sermon.  Anyway I procured a cd for her to listen to. Pray that it would open her eyes to the faithfulness in Christ.  She is saying that if anything happens to Daryl that she will not believe in Jesus anymore because he has never done anything bad to anyone.  Thank you for all of your prayers for them.  Love you all.

PS congratulations on the new grandbaby Doskeys!  He is super cute!

  • Pray for Uncle Daryl

I am asking everybody to be on their knees in prayer for my husbands best friend Daryl.  He is in the hospital and will be having some sort of operation.  From what I understand he has been in the hospital since Monday and has been in excrutiatng pain from about a month ago.  He is suffering from poor circulation due to his diabetes and they may have to amputate.  It looks like the surgery will be to test and see if his arteries are functioning correctly.  Please pray for a safe surgery and that God will be glorified in everybody's actions as we surround Daryl with love and prayers.  God is good and we see His hand in this.  Thank you for your prayers they are much appreciated.  His mom is really having a hard time with all of this.  Please pray that she will look to God for her comfort.  Thank you, April Joy

  • Life in NOLA

    Hello everbody,

This is a an update on THE PAYNES way of life lately.  I have been cleaning houses for over a year now and am actually starting to cut back on it.  I quit one of my houses this week in order to have more time at home.  Daryl John has really been suffering with seperation anxiety.  I am also not getting my transcribing work done for the UNO professor.  I am seriously behind.  I have to clean four houses this week.  TOO MANY!!  This was a wake up call.  I will be doing mostly work that I can do from the home from here on out.  If things slow down with transcribing and with jewelry making and craft shows after the fall there are several people who want me to clean their houses so I will pick up jobs again.  I am just praising the Lord for allowing me to be home more often with the kids.  I made beignets last week with the kids for the first time.  They loved it.  We had a great time.  Megan is doing really well in her studies this year.  I am just praying she will start taking her medicine correctly.  Some of it just can't be messed with or it won't work.  Our ped is sending us to an endocrinologist for her ongoing treatment of migraines and thyroid issues.  Hopefully we will get somewhere with it then.  I am still waiting for her to be able to get allergy shots soon.  John is working a lot of hours like normal and can't wait for the winter.  Next week we are going to Port Hudson for a homeschool field trip.  I can't wait.  We haven't been there in a few years.  It is really a neat place.  I will post more after we go. I have been going to Ladies Bible Study and our book right now is Spiritual Mothering by Susan Hunt.  I am really enjoying it.  I hope it will help us ladies live a closer life with Christ.  This week was on how we can be examples of Glorifying Christ in all we say and do!  Psalm 145 is an excellent chapter to read and praise the Lord in!

Here are some photos of life

  • Came and Went Good time

My parents arrived safely had a good time and went home safely. We didn't do a whole lot my dad has diabetes and seemed to have hurt his ankle and foot and so was pretty much stuck at home most of the time he was here. We did manage to squeeze in a football game for our Homeschool Saints and a Streetcar ride down St. Charles Ave and then we had breakfast at the Morning Call one morning. I tried to get Sticky Buns at Haydels the one day but they don't bake them all the time like they used to. They said they have to be ordered now a days. Oh well we bought some danish, and cinnamon rolls. For dessert we bought some Russian Tea Cakes (Daryl John's favorites!) For my wonderful Hubby we bought some Petit Fours! He finished the last one today. He really liked them! Other than that we looked at a ton of pictures and hung out. Our Poboy choice for the week was Bobby's in River Ridge. MY FAVORITE!! I sent them home with a care package for my brother and his family! Crawfish, shrimp, beignet mix, crab boil, CDM, Louisiana seasoning, Boudain, and Andouille! He was super happy with that! We took a few pictures. So I will leave you with some of those. The only other thing going on is that tonight was our kick off for the new Ladies Bible Study. We had twenty ladies there!! Our book is Spiritual Mothering by Susan Hunt! I love it! I am already through most of Chapter one. Tonight's kick off consisted of a Salad Supper and lots of Dessert! I had a great time as I think everybody else did too. I am really looking forward to our new class. Well I am off to bed since I have to clean house tomorrow and pick up Jewelry from my friend to make for this weekends craft fair. I am also working on transcribing for a UNO teacher from our church for some political survey's he is doing. Tomorrow we also start Seventh Grade. We finished all of Sixth grade today. A bit of a late start for the year but better than last and hopefully with no interruptions we will be finished a lot sooner this year than last!

These are pics from the Morning Call. I prefer their beignets over Cafe Du Monde's and my dad likes weak coffee so he enjoyed their cafe au lait
